recreational training: padi open water diver course

The Padi Open Water qualification is recognised worldwide and allows the holder to dive to a maximum depth of 18 Metres and participate in no decompression diving.

The course comprises three distinct parts.

1. Academic:

This is made up of 5 separate modules covering various aspects of scuba diving. The learning of these is completed by self-study using either the Open Water Manual or the Open Water CD-Rom, the viewing of 5 videos covering each of the 5 modules and instructor led revision. The revision is continued until the student reaches complete understanding. At the end of each module there is a 10-question quiz. And, upon completion of the academic section, there is a 40-question quiz.

2. Confined Water:

Again this section is broken down in to 5 modules and is where knowledge learned in the academic part is put in to practice. This is normally conducted in a swimming pool or similar environment and will cover various drills and skills relevant to both diving and snorkelling.

3. Open Water:

This section consists of 4 open water dives (lake, sea) carrying out and consolidating upon, the drills and skills learned in the confined water sessions In addition some additional exercises such as air sharing and underwater navigation techniques are introduced.

The academic and confined water parts of the course can normally be completed in a weekend or to a programme tailored to you. With a further 2 half days required to complete the 4 Open Water dives.

The course costs £450.00 and includes the following:

There are no hidden extras or additional costs.

Alternatively you may wish to only complete the academic and confined water sections and complete the Open Water dives whilst overseas on holiday. In this case the cost would be £325.00 and the appropriate referral documents would be issued for you take to the dive centre of your choice in your holiday location.

If you wish to enrol, a deposit of £75.00 is required with cheques made payable to Joe Diver Limited and the balance due upon commencement of the course.
