Not Your Average Diver

recreational training: padi advanced open water diver course

This advanced open water diver course enhances and consolidates previously learned skills, whilst extending the diver's knowledge and diving experience.

The course consists of 5 dives, made up of 2 core dives, Deep, Navigation, and 3 elective dives from a choice of over 20 disciplines. Drysuit, Multi Level, Naturalist, Search and Recovery are just a few.

The course comprises two distinct parts.

1. Academic:

This is a combination of self-study and Instructor led elaboration. The student reads the Advanced Open Water manual and completes the knowledge reviews for the three core and the two chosen elective dives.

Prior to each dive, the theory, practical aspects and skills to be completed on the dive are once again reviewed until the diver reaches complete understanding.

2. Open Water:

On each of the five dives there are various mandatory skills to be completed, which are relevant to the dive to be conducted. For example, on the core Navigation dive there are a series of practical underwater navigation exercises to be completed.

The academic and open water parts of the course can normally be completed in two half-day sessions spread over two different days.

The course costs £325.00 and includes the following:

Advanced Open Water Manual
All necessary teaching equipment and materials
Course registration
Qualification card
Qualification wall certificate

Please note that the diver is expected to have their own basic SCUBA equipment and meet any air and site entry fees. Equipment and air can be provided if required, at a small further cost. Please ask for details.

If you wish to enrol, a deposit of £75.00 is required with cheques made payable to Joe Diver Limited and the balance due upon commencement of the course.
